Clinical History:
This is a 16-year-old female with a known history of hypoplastic right ventricle, who was being evaluated for three episodes of dizziness on standing, each lasting 5-10 minutes.
Diagnosis:
Moderate-sized ASD (ostium secundum defect) and a tiny septal VSD.
MR Technique:
3.0 T scanner (Siemens Verio) using a body flex coil anteriorly and a spine coil posteriorly. All four images were obtained under an axial TRUFISP Gradient Echo Four Chamber Cine Series (TR/TE 46/1.3 ms, scan time 10 sec, slice thickness 8 mm).
Imaging Findings:
A small defect in the mid-portion of the atrial septum is noted, representing an ostium secundum defect. There is a separate small defect in the mid-portion of the muscular ventricular septum.
